John W. Knapp

Born: 20 Dec 1924

Died: 11 Apr 2021, Ottawa, Ontario

KNAPP, John W. - Passed peacefully, at the Ottawa General Hospital, in his 97th year. Predeceased by his wife Joan and son Brian. John was a Navy man in the Second World War who was stationed off the coast of Scotland on the frigate HMCS ANNAN. The crew of the ANNAN participated in numerous exchanges with the Nazi's and even sank a U-Boat. He will be missed by his son Chris Knapp, daughters Cheryl and Tracy Knapp, grandchildren Hanna and Andrew Carmichael and great-grandchildren Kasey-Lynn, Ever-Leigh Rose and Tanner Carmichael. A soldier to the end, he left us gracefully and peacefully. We would like to thank the Ottawa General Hospital for their care, they truly are soldiers and heroes at this time. Due to COVID-19, a celebration of life will be determined at a later date. Donations can be made to the Heart & Stroke Foundation. (The Toronto Star 17 Apr 2021)
