Phillip Seavey Boyd

Died: 06 Dec 2013, Waterville, Carleton Co., New Brunswick

 

BOYD, Phillip Seavey - husband of the late Pearl I. (Corey) Irving, went to meet his Lord at the Upper River Valley Hospital in Waterville on December 6, 2013 at the age of 97. Born in Peel, NB on November 1, 1916, he was the son of the late Howard and Beth (Seavey) Boyd. Phillip is survived by his stepson, Harold (Ellen) Corey of Florenceville-Bristol and son, Larry (Judy) Boyd of Peel; sisters; Ellen Taylor of Upper Woodstock and Gertrude McDonald of Peterborough, Ontario; grandchildren, Marsha (Jeremy) Scott, Phillip (Lynn) Boyd, Clifford (Claire) Corey, Cindy (Kenneth) Kenney; great grandchildren, Leighton Scott, Colby Boyd, Joshua Corey, Ashley Corey, Jordon Corey, Adrian Kenney, as well as many nephews, nieces and cousins. In addition to his parents, Phillip was pre-deceased by his wife of 57 years, Pearl; brothers, Burton Boyd, Everett Boyd, Arnold Boyd; sisters, Geraldine Wallace, Margaret Randall, Ruth MacFarlane and Doris Dunham (and their spouses). Phillip was a great husband and father. He was a Navy veteran of WWII serving in both the British Royal Navy and H.M. Canadian Navy serving on Navy Frigates, Corvettes, and a Destroyer (various times) doing escort duty in the North Atlantic and Mediterranean Sea. Throughout his life he worked as a farmer, car salesman and retired as an inter-provincial Journeyman Carpenter. Resting at the Britton Funeral Home, 2 High Street, Hartland, with visiting hours on Sunday from 6 to 8 p.m. and Monday from 10 to 10:45 a.m. A celebration of Phillip's life will be held at the Britton Funeral Home at 11 a.m. on Monday, with Rev. Harry Waugh officiating. Interment will follow in the Greenwood Cemetery in Hartland. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations can be made to the Gideon's, Peel United Baptist Church, Heart and Stroke Foundation, or a charity of the donor's choice.
