JONES, Frederick T. - Passed away quietly in his 96th year at Lakeridge Health after a short battle with cancer, Beloved Father of Lori Hall (Mitch) and Brian Jones (Conny) and Grandfather to Ryan, Matthew and Sophie. Predeceased by Wife (divorced) Mary Jones nee Davis, his brothers, Robert, Ron and Jim, sisters Annie and Elsie. Fred was born in Toronto and attended University of Toronto for Engineering. He was a Second World War Navy veteran serving in HMCS HAIDA. Fred was actively employed in HVAC industry for decades. At 55 he started his own small manufacturing company which is now owned by son and son-in-law. Dad was an amazing Curler when younger and enjoyed Bonspiels for many years. He also joined a Bowling League and was very active hiking and cross country skiing while living in Wasaga Beach. Fred chose a holistic vegan lifestyle which served him well. He always had a solution for every health issue during his life and rarely had medical intervention. An independent Senior who enjoyed day trips with his son and grandkids on a regular basis around Oshawa. He will be sorely missed. A big Thank You for all who helped with his home care this summer. Linda Barrett-Cormier, Steven Roth, Durham Health, MOW and the many PSW who attended. As per Fred's wishes a private family gathering will be held at Mount Lawn Funeral Home in Whitby. In lieu of flowers a donation to the charity of your choice or CNIB foundation would be greatly appreciated. (Durham Region News 05 Oct 20210
