MCCAIG, Allan Robert, Sto 1c, V36923, RCNVR, died - 01 Dec 1944, HMCS NEW LISKEARD - Son of Mr. and Mrs. Alex McCaig, of High River, AB;  husband of Lily McCaig, of Longview, AB.

 

Stoker 1st Class A. R. McCaig drowned in Lachine Canal at Coteau de Lac, Québec. He'd gone ashore with 2 shipmates earlier in the even, but on returning to the ship during a blizzard, became separated from them and somehow fell into the Lachine Canal and drowned. He is buried in the Highwood Cemetery, High River, Alberta.

HMCS TECUMSEH - Enlisted 16 May 1942 as a Sto 2c.  Commenced Active Service 08 Jul 1942

HMCS COURTNEY - Served in COURTNEY 05 Nov 1942 - 21 Mar 1944 as a Sto 1c.

HMCS NEW LISKEARD - Drafted to NEW LISKEARD 22 Nov 1944 as a Sto 1c.
