At the age of 17 Jeff joined the Royal Canadian Navy, serving on many bases, including a tour with UNEFME (Ismailia, Egypt) and many Halifax based ships, particularly HMCS Kootenay. With the help of Dinger Bell, he was able to reconnect with many of his shipmates and attended an annual ceremony to commemorate the ship's tragic accident in 1969. They had become his extended Kootenay family. Jeff was a member of the McAdam Legion. He loved watching hockey and cheering for his favourite team, the Toronto Maple Leafs and his hockey display room was his pride and joy with the Leafs front and centre.

He is survived by his spouse Eleanor Tracey; one daughter, Andrea Rushton (Mike), Dartmouth, NS; one son Shawn Jefferson (Heather), Burlington, ON; five grandsons Steve, Colton, Tyler, Matthew and Jordan; two granddaughters, Shannon and Brianna; three great grandsons Aiden, Daniel and Elijah; three great granddaughters Leah, Emma and Brooklyn; one sister, Ina Logan, Toronto, ON; four sisters-in-law Sharon Phillips, St. Stephen, NB, Carolyn Russell (Allen), Betty Briggs and Rose Daigle (Norman), all of Harvey, NB; several nieces, nephews and cousins.

In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by a great granddaughter Callie; three sisters, Dorothy, Betty and Rose; an infant brother James; three brothers-in-law Al Logan, Bob Phillips and Wayne Briggs.

Respecting Jeff's wishes there will be no visitation or funeral at this time. A graveside service will be held at the Cork Cemetery at a later date.
