HARRISON, Noel Frederick - Peacefully, on Monday, January 5, 2009 at the Deer Lodge Center, Noel Harrison, aged 93 years, went to be with his Lord and Saviour, Jesus Christ. Noel will be lovingly remembered by Janey Harrison (née Cossar) , his beloved wife of 65 years; his daughters Patricia (Brian) and Elizabeth; his son Tom (Allison); ten grandchildren - Renelda (Wes), David (Stacy), Matthew, Barry (Cheryl), Jill, Robin, Jessica, Grace (Jeff), Andrew and Graeme; seven great-grandchildren Jared, Russell, Brodie, Brooke, Gabe, Ethan and Nigella; his sister Margaret, and sister-in-law Betty; and numerous relatives and friends. He was predeceased by his grandson Darren, his brother Roy and his sister Ruth. Noel was born in Port Arthur and came to Winnipeg as an infant. In 1943, while they were serving in the navy, he married his beloved wife Janey. After the war, Noel returned to his job at the CPR in Winnipeg. Later he was employed by Bristol Aerospace where he worked for 25 years until his retirement in 1981. Noel will be remembered for his gentle, thankful and loving nature. His wife Janey, in his words, was the sparkle in his life . He loved his family and was always ready and willing to help his children whenever the opportunity presented itself. Noel loved to play the piano and had his regular daily repertoire of songs. His love of music, his sense of humour and love of people touched the hearts of everyone around him. Above all, he professed and lived by his never ending love for God. We would like to express our heartfelt gratitude to everyone at the Deer Lodge Centre for their exceptional care and genuine love for Noel. Funeral services will be held at The Bridge Church, located on the south-west corner of Portage Ave. and Perimeter Hwy. on Saturday, January 10, 2009 at 2:00 p.m. In honour of Noel, memorial gifts may be given to the Deer Lodge Centre T3 Ward or to the Muscular Dystrophy Association. Rock Fontaine Funeral Director is in care of arrangements. (Winnipeg Free Press 09 Jan 2009)
