ELLIS, Melvin Newton, AB, V50983, RCNVR, killed - 25 Oct 1944, HMCS SKEENA - Son of Alvin and Elizabeth Ellis, of Bathurst, New Brunswick.

 

AB Ellis drowned while trying to get a safety line ashore so that the remaining crew could be safely removed from SKEENA. His body later recovered near Reykjavik Harbour. He is buried in the Fossvogur Cemetery, Reykjavik, Iceland. Prior to enlisting in the Navy he worked as a Farm Labourer.
