Eric Hughlet Edison

Died: 17 Jan 2023, Botwood, Newfoundland

 

EDISON, Eric Hughlet - It is with sad hearts that we announce that Eric passed away at home in Botwood, NL on January 17, 2023 with his loving wife Minnie at his side . He was 78 years old.

 

Except for the three years he served in the Navy and three more studying to be an electrician while living in Toronto, Eric spent most of his life in Botwood and at his cabin at Wintertickle. He retired from Abitibi-Price after more than 30 years as an electrician located in Botwood. Eric was an active member of the community and was known for his volunteerism within the Botwood Fire Department, as a coach for minor hockey, and as an officer in Sea Cadets-Canada. More recently he focused his interests in the Botwood Heritage Society and was known for his lively and comprehensive museum tours. He touched the lives of so many in the community, and was a loving husband, Dad and Poppy.

 

He was predeceased by his father Hughlet Edison, mother Manetta Edison, brother Jim (Maxine) and his beloved daughter Tracey Crawley. He leaves to mourn his wife Minnie Edison; sons Trevor (Jennifer), Chad (Bernadette), son-in-law Steve Crawley; grandchildren Trent, Kiera, Grace, Claire, Lance, Kevin, Stephen; great-grand-children Scarlett, Hunter, Tyson, Kendell; brothers Bill (Alice), Wayne (Sylvia); sisters Jean (Lloyd), Elaine and Ruby (Lee) and a large circle of friends and other relatives.

 

A funeral service will be held on January 21, 2023 at 2 P.M. at Trinity United Church, Botwood. Interment to follow at the United Church cemetery, Botwood. In lieu of flowers, donations in Eric's memory may be made to Diabetes Canada.
