Died: 13 Dec 1999, Winnipeg, Manitoba

 

GAIR, Patrick Peter - With his family at his beside Patrick passed away at 8:20 am, December 13, 1999 at the Riverview Health Centre. He leaves to mourn his passing with such great sorrow his loving wife Pearl; his son Bob and wife Dorothy; son Johnny and wife Brenda, sons, Alex, Billy, Cameron; Gregg and son David with his wife France from Quebec, daughter Pam, husband Fred English from Vancouver, BC, daughter Cathie and husband Laurie Fischer; eleven granddaughters and three grandsons; sister Rena and husband Alf Burfoot; also his sister and brother-in-law Doreen and Boyd Heritz; several relatives and countless friends, especially the gang at the Red River Exhibition and the Valour Road Curling Club. He was predeceased by his daughter Patti and youngest son Brad. They will miss you Pat with your quick smile, your cheerful ways and your willingness to help everyone. We all loved you so very much Pat, what will we do with out you my beloved. Your first great-grandson Fredrich who adored you will especially miss you. Pat was born in Winnipeg and resided here most of his life. He married his wife Pearl and just celebrated his 60th wedding anniversary on October 14, 1999 at home with his family. He suffered for many years with cancer and bore his pain with great dignity and reserve. Never complaining of the long tortuous hours he endured, always cheerful and smiling never thinking of himself, so willing to help others, even in his pain. Pat served in the Royal Canadian Navy for the many years of the Second World War as a Petty Officer and guarded the Canadian Shores. Later he was a store manager for Safeway and Shop Easy Food Stores, later working in the offices of IGA. He was transferred around Canada for store openings while with the Food Stores. His last position was with the Red River Exhibition as Sales Manager for nearly fourteen years, before retiring. He enjoyed his job so much and had a lot of fun working with the staff. He spent time later working at his son Bobs shop Artistic Creations. Till we meet again my darling Pat, my life-long companion. May you now rest in peace free from all your pain and sorrow my beloved. Many thanks to the Doctors and Nurses at the Riverview Health Centre. Special thanks to the Chaplan who came to Pats bedside in his hour of need. Funeral service will be held at 1:00 p.m. Thursday, December 16 at Bardal Funeral Chapel, 843 Sherbrook Street. Interment Waverley Memorial Gardens. Flowers gratefully declined. Contributions can be made to the Cancer Society. Pallbearers will be his seven sons and grandson Jess. Bardal Funeral Home. Patrick's brother, L/Sig Alexander Mowat Gair, died when his ship, HMCS GUYSBOROUGH was sunk during the Second World War.

 

Patrick's brother, Sinclair Allan Gair also served in the RCNVR during the Second World War.
