PAQUET, Joseph Adolphe Rosario, L/Stwd, V32079, RCNVR, MPK - 21 Aug 1944, HMCS ALBERNI - Son of Alphonse Paquet, of Hull, Quebec. Foster-son of Delia Labelle.

 

Leading Steward Paquet died when his ship, HMCS ALBERNI, was torpedoed and sunk in the English Channel on 21 Aug 1944 by U-480, southeast of the Isle of Wight. Fifty-nine of her ship's company lost their lives. Prior to enlisting he graduated from Note Dame College in Hull, Quebec, and was employed by the Canadian Department Stores in Ottawa.

HMCS NIOBE - Drafted to NIOBE 10 Jan 1942. HMT VOLENDAM  for passage.
