MARCOTTE, Joseph Leo Paul, AB GL2, 2161, RCN, MPK - 25 Jun 1940, HMCS FRASER - Son of Joseph and Alma Marcotte, of Transcona, Manitoba; husband of Alice May Marcotte, of Esquimalt, British Columbia.

 

Able Seaman Joseph Leo Paul Marcotte, age 30 listed as killed, was a popular athlete, being prominent on the softball diamond and a former hockey player. He is survived by his wife, Alice May Marcotte in Victoria, B.C.

 

AB Macotte died when his ship, HMCS FRASER, was in a collision with HMS CALCUTTA 12 miles due west of Pointe de la Coubre light at the Gironde River mouth and sank as a result with the loss of 65 of her crew.
