MOORE, Arthur James, Yeoman of Signals, 2258, RCN, MPK - 25 Jun 1940, HMCS FRASER - Son of Hedley Sheperd Moore Canal Flats, BC and Agnes E. Moore, of Kimberley, British Columbia; husband of Rusha Georgia Moore, of Victoria, British Columbia.

 

Yeoman Moore died when his ship, HMCS FRASER, was in a collision with HMS CALCUTTA 12 miles due west of Pointe de la Coubre light at the Gironde River mouth and sank as a result with the loss of 65 of her crew.

 

Arthur lived in Camrose, Alberta until he was 16, when he joined the navy at Esquimalt. His mother Mrs. H. S. Moore, and a brother, Ralph, are in Kimbeley, BC, while his father and four brothers are in Canal Flats, B.C. Mrs. A. G. Nelson of Kimberley, B.C. and Mrs. James Annoslry of Camrose, are sisters. His wife formerly Rue MacDonald of Victoria, resides at Esquimalt.
