Born: 16 Dec 1924, Shotts, North Lanarkshire, Scotland

 

Died: 01 Oct 1999, Nanaimo, British Columbia, Canada

 

A son of Thomas (Tom) McLay and Margaret Turnbull (née Glencourse) McLay.  Husband of Althea Isabelle (née McCormick) McLay. Father of 7 children. Thomas is buried in the Kimberley Cemetery, Kimberley, British Colubmia.

 

Ships served in:

HMCS STRATHADAM - Telegraphist McLay was injured on 11 Apr 1945 when HMCS STRATHADAM was carrying out an attack on a U-boat and a hedgehog projectile exploded prematurely on firing, killing 6 of the crew and injuring 9 others.
