In memory of those who have Crossed the Bar
FISHER, Ralph Ervin - After a short illness but a remarkably long and happy 92 years filled with accomplishments, travel and the love of family and friends, Commander Ralph E. Fisher, RCN (retired) left us quietly at North Shore Hospice in North Vancouver, BC. Predeceased by his wife Shirley in 2013, whom he missed dearly. Survived by son David (Janice), daughter Sue (John), four grandchildren (Michael, Shawn, Allison and Christopher), his sister Ann Fitchett and many nieces and nephews. An electrical engineer and 28-year veteran of the Royal Canadian Navy, he made significant contributions to the service during and after his career, including his work on the Bras d'Or hydrofoil project and the successful campaign to give long overdue recognition to Canadian WWII veterans through the creation of the Bomber Command Bar award. We will remember his infinite capacity for mental math calculations, his home and car repair skills, and his sage investment advice. Ralph brought his intelligence, energy, wit and generosity to every endeavour. He was a loving husband, supportive father and affectionate grandpa, and he will be missed. Memorial Service to be held at a later date. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the charity of your choice. Arrangements by First Memorial, North Vancouver, BC.
