BARLOW, Lowell Howard - Relatives and friends were deeply shocked and saddened to learn of the death in Charlottetown on March 13th, 1976 of Lowell H. Barlow.

Born September 2nd, 1924 in Wellington to Mr. and Mrs. Howard Barlow where he grew up and attended the local school.  He worked for a time at Sheen & McInnis Shoe store in Summerside, later enlisting in the Royal Canadian Navy.  He received his basic training in Cornwalls, N.S. and St. Hyacinthe, Quebec.  He was then transferred to H.M.C.S. Huntsville, a corvette, where he served until the end of hostilities in 1945.

He then was accepted at the C.N.R. in Charlottetown where he took a course in telegraphy, following which he served in many area of Prince Edward island.  With the gradual trend of the closing out of C.N. stations, Lowell transferred to the servo centre office in Charlottetown where he worked faithfully until his death.

The kind remarks made by his friends and fellow workers bear silent tribute of the high respect in which he was held by all who knew him.

Firm is his Christian faith, he served faithfully and well in the Wellington United Church.  As an elder he was clerk of the session, served on the board of stewards as well as auditor.  But probably where he will be missed most will be in the choir.  Here he gave freely and happily of his talents in song.

Left to mourn his passing are his mother, one brother; Harry and five sisters, grace (Mrs. Charles Allen), Marjorie (Mrs. Harold Harkness), Lois (Mrs. Ernest Carr), Beryl (Mrs. Jack Harkness), Daisy (Mrs. Maynard Thompson).  He was predeceased by his father (Howard) and a brother, Preston.

The largely attended funeral was held from the Wellington United Church on March 19th, 1976 at 2 p.m.  The service was conducted by Rev. Blair MacPhail and Rev. Merrill MacLeod.  Hymns sung were "The Lord is my Shepherd" and "Abide with Me".  "The Last Mile of the Way" was rendered by Mr. and Mrs. Lyndon Ellis.  Organist was Mrs. Roy Enman

The Management and staff of Inman Plumbing and Heating attended in a body.

Honorary pallbearers were C.N.R. employees from Charlottetown, J.R. MacDougall, C.W. MacLean, F.T. McAdam, D.C. MacLean, L.B. Doyle, A.W. Ryan, A.B. MacLean, A.G. Lewis, N.B. Thompson, P.A. Rochford and G.A. McCamell.
