In memory of those who have Crossed the Bar
DRUKEN, Stephen Paul (Steve) - It is with deep sorrow that I announce the passing of my husband, Stephen “Steve” Paul Druken, aged 61, on Thursday, October 2nd, 2025, at his home in Mulgrave, Nova Scotia.
Steve was born in Wolfville, NS on September 1st, 1964, to the late Willam Henry Druken and late Anne Gertrude (Power), and raised in Shea Height’s, Newfoundland. Steve had a career of 20 years with the Canadian Military, of which he was a proud member. His career began on February 2, 1983, with his arrival at Cornwallis, NS. He spent the first three years of his service in the Navy, in which he was a “signalman” and served on the following ships: HMCS Assiniboine, HMCS Margaree and HMCS Preserver. He then changed careers to become a member of the Military Police of which he spent his final 17 years of service. During his time in the military, Steve travelled further than the Arctic Circle and lower than the Southern Equator. Steve had a great passion for art and was a very talented artist in his own right. He travelled to Arizona to study to become a sketch artist for the Military Police. Steve was a very kind, gentle soul who liked to lead a very quiet life. He had a love of reading, gaming, was very schooled in History, especially WWI and WWII. He got much enjoyment out of riding his Harley and caring for his fur babies over the years gave him much delight.
Steve was predeceased by his parents; his sisters, Pamela Druken and Karen Stanley; special niece, Terilyn Tulk; father-in-law, Michael T. MacKinnon; brothers-in-law, Wayne MacKinnon and Brian MacNeil.
Left to mourn Steve is his loving wife of 39 years, Karen (MacKinnon); sisters, Judy (Donald) Scott, North Sydney; Marilyn Tulk (Gary), Newfoundland and Bill Druken (Joan), Newfoundland. Also, members of the MacKinnon family; Jean, his mother-in-law; James, Robert (Marilyn), Dianne MacNeil; Janet and Victoria Grady.
I wish to thank the following people for the care provided to Steve during his time of illness; Dr. Heather MacKinnon, Halifax; The Antigonish Palliative Care Society and Port Hawkesbury Continuing Care.
There will be no visitation. Funeral mass will be held 11 a.m., Monday, October 6, 2025 in St. Lawrence Roman Catholic Church, Mulgrave with Father Allan MacPhie officiating. Burial will follow in the Parish Cemetery.
