Died: 07 Jan 2026, Dartmouth, Nova Scotia, Canada

 

KEIZER, Joseph Francis (Joe) - age 89, passed away peacefully on January 7th, 2026, after spending a wonderful Christmas season with his family. Born in Ontario, he was a son of the late Mark and Mary Keizer. Joe was an electrician in the Canadian Armed Forces for 28 years. He met his soulmate, Helen, at a church dance in Ontario when they were teenagers. They continued to enjoy many things together including, spending winters in Florida for 18 years; they also enjoyed dancing, camping, making wine, gardening, and spending time with family. Joe and Helen were very social and easily made friends everywhere they went.

 

Joe is survived by his children; daughters, Theresa McGinnis and Cathy Bell; sons, Danny and Mark (Cynthia); grandchildren, Brad, Ann Marie, Sandie, Cherie, Stephanie, Jennifer, Daniel, Denis, and Noah; and several great grandchildren, nieces and nephews. He is also survived by sisters, Ellana Karn, and Eileen Sheldrick. He was predeceased by his loving wife of 65 years, Helen; his son, Joey; daughter, Patty; siblings, Mike, Evelyn, and Fred; grandson, Jeremy Scott; daughter in law, Carol Keizer; son in law, Donnie Wheeler.

 

The family extends heartfelt thanks to the staff at Bissett Court for their care and compassion, as well as the wonderful ladies who provided additional overnight care. A Funeral Service will be held at 10:30am, Tuesday, January 13, 2026, in Atlantic Funeral Home, 771 Main St., Dartmouth, reception to follow, burial in Dartmouth Memorial Gardens.
