In memory of those who have Crossed the Bar
SCOTT, Alexander Nelson - 79, passed away peacefully on April 11 at the Halifax Infirmary. Born in Winnipeg, Manitoba, he was the son of the late Alexander Scott and Edna Simpson.
He is survived by his daughters Sarah (Glenn), Amanda (Bruce), and stepson Don (Sarah) Perry. He was a proud grandad to Alex, Kennedy and Ada. He was predeceased by his wife of 52 years Sheila (Perry).
Alex, known as Scott to his friends, was proud of his years of service in the Royal Canadian Navy aboard the HMCS Kootenay, in the Canadian Coast Guard aboard the CCGS Louis St Laurent, the Halifax Shipyard, and the Halifax Commissionaires. He was an avid baseball fan who spoke often of his trip to see his beloved Montreal Expos. He enjoyed playing pool and snooker, and for the last 10 years or more was a season ticket holder for the Halifax Mooseheads. His heart was never far from the ocean as that was where he was most happy, even though he could never swim. His family hopes he is somewhere sailing, him at the helm and Sheila in the background telling him how to sail.
A celebration of life will take place on a later date. Donations can be made to the Canadian Cancer Society. (Ettinger Funeral Home)
