In memory of those who have Crossed the Bar
Dark, James Albert
James Albert Dark: February 21, 1934 - April 14, 2026 Theresa Agnes Dark: March 13, 1935 - April 28, 2026
It is with profound sadness that our family announces the passing of our parents Jim and Terry.
Dad left us on April 14, 2026 at the age of 92 and our Mom followed him home on April 28, 2026, just two short weeks later at the age of 91. Mom and Dad married on June 23, 1956 and were just shy of their 70th wedding anniversary. They remained completely devoted to one another to the very end. Although their departures came far too soon for the ones left behind, it was their time to go and they were ready. Together they built a life centered on love, family, friendship, and an unwavering commitment to each other.
Jim was born on February 21, 1934 in Toronto Ontario. He had the ability to fix almost anything and would spend countless hours tinkering away in his work shed. He was always willing to lend a helping hand. Our Dad was a very proud military man who started his career as an Air Bosun on HMCS Bonaventure and ended his 30+ year career as a Fire Fighting instructor at the Military Firefighting School in Colwood. His wisdom, humor, and undying dedication to family left a lasting impression on all who met him.
Terry was born on March 13, 1935 in Salmon River Nova Scotia. Our Mom really loved children and her family. She loved to cook, bake and to host large family dinners every Sunday. There was always room for anyone to join us and dinners usually became a houseful of children and laughter. Our Mom was faced with her biggest challenge which was being alone with 6 children to raise while our Dad was away for many months at a time serving in the Navy. But she did it with strength and a fierce love for her children. Her kindness, strength, and generosity touched everyone who knew her.
Together, they created a home filled with love and support. They cherished time with family, celebrated life's milestones together, and served as an example of partnership and devotion.
They are lovingly remembered by their 6 children, Brenda (Robert), Pam (Janette), Dee, Brian, Debbie (John) and Kathy; 16 grandchildren, 29 great grandchildren and 1 great great grandchild.
The family extends our heartfelt gratitude to the staff of the Hiscock Unit at the Priory for giving our parents a safe, kind and loving space to spend what was to be their final 3 years of life together. Though they are deeply missed, their legacy of love, compassion, and devotion to family will continue to live on in all who knew them.
"Together in life, together in memory."
A Celebration of Life will be held on Sunday, June 28, 2026, from 12-3 at The Langford Legion 761 Station Avenue. Everyone is welcome to attend. (The Victoria Times Colonist 13 Jun 2026)
