In memory of those who have Crossed the Bar
BECK, Leonard E. - It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of our brother Leonard E. Beck on Sunday, April 13th, 2025, at the age of 76. Born in Rexton on January 27th, 1949, he was the son of the late Everett James Beck and late Olive Marie (Lyman) Beck.
Len served in the Navy for 35 years, achieving the rank of Chief Petty Officer, 2nd Class (CPO2). During his time in the Navy, he served on submarines and earned the nickname "Weasel" for his ability to fit into torpedo tubes.
After his military career, Len built his dream log home behind his father's house and joined the local volunteer fire department and Legion. Together with Paula, he hosted many kitchen parties that filled the house with love, laughter, and music. Len was a talented musician with a passion for Bluegrass music. In the band Grassfire, he provided lead vocals and played a variety of instruments, winning several awards.
Len will be sadly missed by his sisters, Shelley Petley (Bill) of Hanwell, NB, Pam Graham (Rodney) of Upper Tantallon, NS, Cindy Verrill (Peter) of Clifton Royal, NB, and Virginia Beck-Hazeldine (Arnold) of Chester Basin, NS; by his brother, Brian Beck (Marge) of Harcourt, NB; and by many nieces and nephews.
Besides his parents, he was predeceased by his beloved wife, Paula Denice Beck.
As per Len's wishes, there will be a graveside service at St. Andrew's Presbyterian Cemetery on May 24th at 1:00 p.m., followed by a Celebration of Life at the Harcourt Legion.
Heartfelt thanks to all the wonderful doctors, nurses, and staff at the Miramichi Regional Hospital and Percy's Place Hospice in Miramichi. Your care and compassion were second to none!
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Harcourt Legion, Harcourt Joint Cemetery Fund, or the donor's choice.
