Clayton Langford (Lanny) Ross

Born: 02 Feb 1924, Portage La Prairie, Manitoba

 

Died: 12 Apr 2020, White Rock, British Columbia

 

ROSS, Clayton Langford - passed away peacefully at the Peace Arch Hospital on the morning of Easter Sunday, April 12, 2020, at the age of 96. Clayton was born in Portage La Prairie, Manitoba, on February 2, 1924. He was predeceased by his parents Sherman and Violet (Case) Ross, brother Norman, sister Opal, and wife Joyce Annie (Rands) Ross, and is survived by his youngest brother Garry. Clayton "Papa" Ross will be lovingly remembered and mourned by his sons Darryl (Jean) and Randy (Florence), his grandchildren Sean, Laurie (Duane), Jennifer (Terry), Heather (Chris), his many great- grandchildren, his brother Garry (June), long-time friend Larry, dear friend Janet, and his many cherished cousins, nieces, nephews, friends, and members of the extended family. A memorial for Clayton will be held at a date to be determined. (Vancouver Sun 18 Apr 2020)

 

In 1941, at the of 17, Clayton joined the Royal Canadian Naval Volunteer Reserve as a signalman and participated in the Battle of the Atlantic during the Second World War. Upon returning to Canada in August of 1945, he was reunited with his fiancée and love of his life.
