FAWCETT, James Christopher (Jim) - Age 79 of Lower Sackville. It is with heavy hearts that we announce the peaceful death of James "Jim" Christopher Fawcett, at his home in Lower Sackville, on March 25, 2022.

Born March 14, 1943, in Swift Current, Sask., he was the son of the late Florence A. and George C. Fawcett.

Jim will be dearly missed by his family: his loving wife of 53 years, Beverley; his sons, Chris (Michelle) and Mike (Juanita); grandchildren, Kyla, Zoe, Liam, Gabriel, and Fiona; his sister, Lynne Fawcett; in-laws, Nancy and Scott MacKay, Heather Jones; and nieces and nephews. Jim was raised in Calgary and moved to Nova Scotia in 1964 for Canadian Armed Forces basic training at CFB Cornwallis. He loved his 31-year naval career, getting to travel the world while serving his country on nine different ships, including HMCS ATHABASKAN during the Persian Gulf War. Jim started out as a Meteorological Tech and retired at age 55 as a Petty Officer 1st Class working as a Marine Engineer. He then worked, as an Engine Fitter, for the Halifax Shipyard until retirement at age 65.

Jim had a passion for shooting and won numerous trophies over the years, including top military prizes. Jim continued his passion into retirement as a range officer. Jim loved all dogs and enjoyed his daily trips to the dog park with his faithful companions, Zander and Jax. A private family service will take place. In lieu of flowers donations can be made to the Heart and Stroke Foundation of Canada.

Fair winds and following seas our dearest Jim. (The Saltwire Network 30 Mar 2022)
