Leonard Milus Kirby

Died: 20 Ag 2023, Salt Spring Island, British Columbia

 

KIRBY, Leonard Milus - It is with deep sadness that the family announces the passing of Leonard Milus Kirby of Salt Spring Island on Sunday, August 20, 2023 in the company of his loving wife Dorothy. Predeceased by his older brother Paul (Diane) Kirby. Survived by his younger sister Johanne (Hank) Rensmaag and brother Michael (Donna) Kirby. He was a naval officer graduate (1965) of HMCS VENTURE, the naval training establishment in Esquimalt, and served on the HMCS ANNAPOLIS and HMCS SAGUENAY. After his naval career, he and Dorothy became prominent members of the Canadian equestrian community, both serving in a variety of management and executive roles over several years. He finished his active working life back on the waters as an officer with BC Ferries. He will be deeply missed by his family and many friends. (The Victoria Times Colonist 16 Sep 2023)
