Died: 09 Oct 2023, Tatamagouche, Nova Scotia

 

THOMAS, William Edgar (Bill) - 90, Waugh River, passed away peacefully after a brief stay in Lillian Fraser Memorial Hospital on October 29, 2023, of Congestive Heart Failure. Bill was born in Montreal, QC on January 25, 1933 to the late Edgar Francis and Doris (Haughton) Thomas. He leaves behind his sons, Darren (Julie), Masstown, Todd (Jing), Tatamagouche; granddaughter, Ting (Sen), Halifax; great granddaughter, TingYue; sister, Margaret Darbyson; Florence Kimber (Tom) all of Quebec; many nieces and nephews who will all miss him. He was predeceased by his wife, Eunice (Nymark), they were married December 24, 1955.

 

Bill was a devoted husband, father and friend to all who knew him. He joined the Royal Canadian Navy and served 1954 to 1958 serving on the HMCS Magnificent and HMCS Bonaventure. In 1959 he joined the Royal Canadian Army Signal Corps until 1980. He then worked for Michelin Tire in Granton until his retirement in 1993. He served in his community and was involved in Executive Positions with the Royal Canadian Legion, Michelin Retirees Club and Bavarian Society of Tatamagouche. His hobbies included Rug Hooking, Needle Point, Wood and Leather Working. The family wish to extend their thanks and appreciation to the Aberdeen Hospital, New Glasgow as well as the Lillian Fraser Memorial Hospital, Tatamagouche as well as to the Royal Canadian Legion, Br. 64.

 

Visitation Saturday, November 4 from 7-9pm commencing with a Legion Tribute at 6:45pm and Funeral Service Sunday, November 5 at 1pm all in Coulter's Funeral Home, 48 Riverside Dr., Tatamagouche. Reception will follow the service in Royal Canadian Legion Br. 64, Tatamagouche. Committal will take place in Forest Hill Cemetery, Denmark.
