Trevor Ronald McDaniel

Electrical Technician, C.A.F. (Navy) / Fire Fighter, C.A.F.

Born: 1971          Died: 14 Dec 2023

McDANIEL, Trevor Ronald - 52, of Port Hood, embraced the promise of eternal life on December 14, 2023.

Georgia, his beloved daughter, was the center of Trevor’s world. Her name was a source of pride that he shared with everyone around him. His unwavering support and love for his girl were evident in the way he celebrated every one of her accomplishments.

For 19 years, Trevor served his country in the Canadian Military, leaving a lasting mark through his dedicated service. In the Navy, between 1997 and 2007, he worked on the HMCS Ville De Quebec, HMCS Preserver and HMCS Charlottetown, contributing his skills as a marine electrical technician, ship team diver and ship boarding team member. Following a remuster in 2007, he served as a firefighter at the Shearwater base until his retirement in 2016. Trevor faced many challenges in his line of duty including deployments to Afghanistan as part of Operation Apollo and his role in the recovery effort of Swiss Air Flight 111.

Trevor's commitment extended beyond military service. He was selected as a candidate to be a pallbearer to carry the remains of the Unknown Soldier from Vimy Ridge to Ottawa in Operation Memoria but later served as part of the honour guard, exemplifying the deep sense of respect he held for his country.
Raised with a legacy of prayer and devotion to family, Trevor cherished these values throughout his life. He offered encouragement to friends facing challenges, participated in Habitat for Humanity and organized church services at sea for his fellow shipmates.

As the eldest of five children, Trevor leaves behind a family who will continue to pray for his everlasting peace. His siblings, Tammy (Darren), Callum (Katie) and Mark (Carolyn), along with nephews, Dylan (Lindsay), Matthew, Rowen and Finley; nieces, Carly and Hannah; grandnieces, Vennah and Lainey will forever remember him for his big heart, infectious smile, spirited laugh and love for a good time. Trevor was predeceased by his parents, Colin and Hughena, and his sister, Mary, all of whom are joyfully welcoming him home. Family meant the world to Trevor, just as he meant the world to us.

Cremation has taken place. Visitation will be held on Friday, January 26th at the Port Hood & Area Resting Place from 2-4 and 7-9. Funeral mass will take place on Saturday, January 27th at 11:00 a.m. at St. Peter's Roman Catholic Church, Port Hood, with Fr. Feby and Fr. Eugene officiating. Burial to follow in the parish cemetery. Memorial donations may be made to St. Peter's Parish Cemetery Fund or to the Port Hood & Area Resting Place.
