McKNIGHT, John Myles - It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of John. Surrounded by his family, John passed away peacefully at home in Victoria BC, on October 30, 2025.

Born on February 23, 1933 in Remington Park, Windsor, Ontario, to William and Maude, John lived a full and remarkable life.

He is lovingly remembered by his devoted wife of 69 years, Sara (aka Sally); his son Patrick (Wendy); daughters, Cathy and Maureen (Richard); and, daughter-in-law Brenda. He will be deeply missed by his cherished grandchildren Steven, Jason (Krista), Christopher (Amanda), Jarrod (Katie) and Nicholas; and his great-grandchildren, Zoey (Ben), Drew, Charlise, Nevaeh, Easton and Ryan. John is also survived by siblings Marian, Neil, Lila, Cheryl, Martha and Brian; and, in-laws, Tom and Daniel Witty.

He was predeceased by his beloved son, Sean, as well as eight siblings.

At the age of 19, John proudly joined the Royal Canadian Navy, where he served for 25 years and retired with the rank of Chief Petty Officer. He later continued his career with the BC Corrections Service.

After retirement, John and Sara moved to Courtenay to be closer to the ski slopes, a perfect setting for John's love of the outdoors, returning to Victoria in 2013 to be near family.

John will be remembered as a man whose energy, funny one-liners and warmth touched everyone around him. An avid cyclist, skier, walker and lover of the outdoors, he lived life in motion, always eager for the next ride, walk, or family adventure. Above all, John's heart belonged to his family. He was a devoted husband, father, grandfather and GG. John played a special role in the lives of his grandchildren and great-grandchildren. He was a steady source of love, guidance, and gentle wisdom, always leading by example through his kindness and integrity. Whether offering advice, sharing stories, or lending a helping hand, John helped shape their early years with patience and joy. His presence was a blessing, a quiet strength and a reminder of the power of unconditional love across generations.

We extend our heartfelt thanks to the dedicated staff and caring community at The Renaissance, where John made his home for the past seven years.

There will be a private family celebration of life at a later date.

Ay Yi Yi - Love you more... (The Victoria Times Colonist 04 Nov 2025)
