RATCLIFFE, William Clifford - passed away peacefully on March 23, 2026 surrounded by his family.

He was predeceased by his wife Ruth; son Karsten; grandson Jesse; and sisters, Patricia and Alice. He is lovingly remembered by his daughters Heather (Mike) and Debra (Garry), and his cherished grands Wade (Laurie), Moira, Maclain, Calvin, Ruth, Zachary, Liam, Evan, Rachel, Ellis, Tully, Hollis and Jones. He is also survived by nieces Kim, Patty, Kathy, Rosalind, Susan, Alecia and family in Alberta and Norway.

Born in Dodsland, Saskatchewan, Bill moved with his family to Peace River and later to Kimberley, British Columbia, where he began his working life at Cominco Mines. He married Ruth and joined the Navy, eventually settling in Victoria, which became home base between various postings, including three in Nova Scotia.

A self-motivated and lifelong learner, Bill retired from the Armed Forces at age 43 as an Electronic Technician Instructor. He then retrained as an Industrial Education teacher and continued his career with School District 62.

Bill had a deep curiosity and a remarkable range of talentshis grandchildren fondly thought of him as a true Renaissance man. Neighbours and friends knew him as a witty, thoughtful gentleman with a gift for turning ideas into reality. Whether building boats and houses, crafting concrete garden work, drawing, photography, ukulele or writing short stories and even a novel, Bill approached each project with vision, planning, and dedication. Bill dreamed of sailing his own boat which he built in his 60's in his yard and then created many adventures with family aboard.

To say he will be missed is an understatement. We will remember him alwayshis jaunty tilt of the hat, his wry smile, and his warm, welcoming hospitality.

Love you, Dad
