Died: 08 Jul 2026

 

COPELAND, Thomas Henry (Tom) - age 95, passed away peacefully on Wednesday July 8th, 2026.

 

Born on December 17th, 1930, in Halifax, NS, Tom was the beloved child of Magnolia (Bonnin) and George Henry Copeland. Throughout his life he was known for his accomplishments and passions surrounding aviation.

 

Tom dedicated his career to Naval Aviation as a Pilot in HMCS Shearwater, on the HMCS Magnificent Carrier and the HMCS Bonaventure Carrier. Tom was also Air Commander with UN in Kashmir and Northern Pakistan, plus several staff positions in Ottawa, Brussels and Washington D.C.

 

Above all, Tom cherished family, friends and his neighbors. He will be remembered for his kindness and generosity towards others.

 

Tom was predeceased by his loving wife Kathleen, sister Frances (Wambolt) and Brother Charles. He is survived by several nieces and nephews.

 

Cremation has taken place. Respecting his wishes, there will be no visitation or funeral service. (The Halifax Chronicle-Herald 14 Jul 2026)
