Died: 22 Oct 2006

 

BELSEY, Edward Robert (Ted) - Retired Moose Jaw Fire Chief, passed away on Sunday, October 22, 2006. Born February 21, 1917 in Moose Jaw, Ted served in the Royal Canadian Navy from 1943 1945. He was also a member of the Moose Jaw Fire Department from 1940 1982, serving as Fire Chief for twelve years. He was a member of the Royal Canadian Legion, and Life Member of Moose Jaw & District Seniors. Ted enjoyed music, golf, curling, gardening, lawn bowling, painting, playing the organ and singing. Predeceased by son, Glenn Belsey; brother, Harry; sisters: Alice, Maggie, Jessie and Jenny, Ted is survived by his wife of sixtynine years, Rita; daughters: Sharon (Paul) Ziehlke, Laurel (Bernard) Schaan, and Debra Belsey; daughter-in-law: Lilian Belsey; grandchildren: Jill (Joe), Jodene (Peter), Alison, Ian (Somanta), Aaron and Justin; great-grandchildren: Jeannine, Roger, Catherine, Ashley, Charlotte, Natalie, Duncan and William; sisters-inlaw, Eve Passmore and Carmel Passmore. The Funeral Service will be held on Thursday, October 26, 2006 at 1:30 p.m. in the W. J. Jones & Son Funeral Chapel. Interment will follow at Rosedale Cemetery. Memorials to the Moose Jaw Firefighters Burn Fund, The Canadian Cancer Society or to the Moose Jaw & District Seniors would be appreciated. In living memory of Ted, a tree will be planted in Wakamow Valley by W. J. Jones & Son Funeral Home. (The Regina Leader Post 24 Oct 2006)
