Robert Henry Edwards

Died: 08 Jun 2023, Halifax, Nova Scotia

 

EDWARDS, Robert Henry (Bob)- Age 74, of Halifax passed away peacefully in his sleep at home on June 8, 2023.

 

He was predeceased by his parents, Allan and Hilda Edwards. Bob is survived by his wife, Vicky Dwyer; and his children, Michael (Sindy), Vancouver; Stephen, Halifax; Catherine (Devon), Ottawa; Sarah, Halifax; brother, John (Marguerite), Scotland; and grandchildren, Brielle and Oliver, Ottawa.

 

Bob was a graduate of QEH and Dalhousie University, MA Political Science. He served in the Canadian Navy for 37 years with postings in Halifax, Victoria, Virginia Beach, Toronto and Ottawa.He retired as a Commander.

 

Bob met his wife Vicky while both were lifeguards at the Waeg. He was a dedicated volunteer with the International Ocean Institute. One of his favourite places was the family cottage on St. Margarets Bay where he excelled in kayaking long distances and identifying sea birds and mammals. He was an avid runner and ran several marathons. He also loved long walks in Point Pleasant Park and along the waterfront.

 

He was a brewer of very good beer and wine. His children and his wife benefited greatly from his parenting skills, always compassionate and understanding, a hearty sense of humour and a good story teller, and setting a high moral standard for others to follow.
