In memory of those who have Crossed the Bar
BENOIT, Robert Vincent, (Benny) Retired Petty Officer RCN - of Lower Sackville passed away peacefully at Moody Hall with his family by his side, on June 25th 2025.
Born March 11, 1933, in LaSalle Ontario to parents Milton and Gertrude (Boutette) Benoit. Benny served on HMCS Magnificent, Assiniboine, Quinte, Algonquin, and Bonaventure, and was very proud to have been part of the parade for the Queen’s Coronation in 1953.
He met his loving wife Geneverah (Nebbie) Corkum at the Olympic Garden, in Halifax. After their courtship they were married on May 1, 1954, in LaSalle Ontario, in the church that his grandfather had built 20 years prior. Being a military family, they made many moves to P.E.I., New Brunswick, Halifax and finally the family settled in Lower Sackville in 1975 after he retired from the Navy.
Dad was a member of the Chamber of Commerce in Lower Sackville, Silver and Gold Club and the Sackville Lions Club, where he held many positions such as, Treasure, Vice President, President, and was proud of being the grounds keeper where he kept an immaculate flower garden and grounds where many weddings were held.
Dad worked as a Salesman for CIP Victoria, Price Daxion and Unisource from 1975 to 1994, where he retired for the second time. Benny was known all over the metro area, he could not go anywhere without someone knowing him, and dad loved to chat. He was fortunate to have his lifelong friends Bob and Mary-Ann Bozin as well as great neighbours Bev and Brady Faulkner, all of whom he thought of as family. He thoroughly enjoyed his daily phone calls with Bob and all the home cooked meals Bev shared with him.
He is survived by children, Catherine (Shawn) Lacey - Hardwoodlands, Joanne Isnor - Lantz, Michael (Alda) Benoit - Dartmouth, Bernadette (Claude) Davis/Bezanson - Ecum Secum. Brother Milton (Bud) P.E.I., several nieces and nephews. He is best known as Pippy to all the grandchildren, Todd (Lisa) Lacey, Alicia (Matt) Cormier Stephen (Coralie) Isnor, Melissa (Marc) Wallis, Joel (Stacey) Benoit, Pamela Scott, Andrew Davis, Hayley (Ben) Keddy, Taylor (Tristine) Bezanson and honorary grandson Matt Pike, great grandchildren, Jayelle, Katie, Madison, Devon, Liam, Ruth, Aden, Fraser, Lilly, Evelyn, Evan, Jase, Ace as well as great great-grandchildren, Milo, and Ronin.
He was predeceased by wife Nebbie, sister Shirley, son-in-law Stephen Isnor, grandson-in-law Joel Scott and infant son Joseph.

Visitation will take place from 12-1 PM with a Celebration of Life beginning at 1 PM with a reception to follow all in Atlantic Funeral Home Oakridge Chapel at 1110 Old Sackville Road, Middle Sackville on Wednesday July 2nd.
