Died: 10 Aug 1994, Clementsport, Annapolis Co., Nova Scotia

 

LIGHT, Charles Edward  (Ted) - 74, Clementsport, Annapolis County, died August 10, 1994, at home. Born in Winnipeg, Man., he was a son of the late Charles P. and Eva Light. He served in the Royal Canadian Navy from 1939-59, retiring as Chief Petty Officer 1st class, communicator. He served on H.M.C. ships, NADEN, STADACONA, VENTURE, BRAS D'OR, LACONIA, SKEENA, ST HYACINTHE, AGASSIZ, ST CLAIR, ETTRICK, HURON, POUNDMAKER, PEREGRINE, CHIPPAWA, SCOTIAN, IROQUOIS, HAIDA, ALBRO LAKE, MAGNIFICENT, QUEBEC, ALGONQUIN and CORNWALLIS. From 1960-79, he was employed with the Department of National Defense, CFB Cornwallis as a managerial teletype communicator. Upon retirement, he received the Government of Canada Long Service Medal. He worked many years with the Cornwallis Sea Cadets, serving as OC for two years. He was a member of the Atlantic Chiefs and Petty Officers Association and the Navy League of Canada. During his life, he operated a beef farm in Clementsport and was a member of Digby County Department of Agriculture. He is survived by his wife, the former Marion White; two daughters; Joanne Light, Dartmouth; Lorraine Brenton, Halifax; two granddaughters; sister, Margaret Johansen, Edmonton. He was predeceased by a sister, Mary. A memorial service will be 4 p.m. Saturday in Robert L. Hall Funeral Home, Annapolis Royal, Rev. Harold Kay officiating. Family flowers only.
