HARRISON, Kenneth - With broken hearts, but so much love, we are saddened by the passing of our father, Kenneth Harrison. He was born in 1931 in Winnipeg, Man., where he enjoyed all of his younger years, and where he met and married the love of his life, Joyce Emes. The two would continue on to enjoy a wonderful, adventurous, long life together (66 years) with many bumps along the way. Six for sure, every two years, with a pattern of girl, boy, girl, boy, girl, boy. There was never any hesitation to pick up, pack up and drive us all across Canada when duty called, Dad being posted to the other coast. He would often say ‘I love this life’ and long distance phone calls would always end with ‘bye for now’. To say Ken was a man of stature wouldn’t begin to encompass all he accomplished in his 89 years. Dad enlisted in the Navy while living in Winnipeg, 1954. He was a dedicated Naval CPO at the end of his career, retiring in April 1984 having 27 plus years of service (honourably released for a period). Throughout his journey with the Navy Dad would be posted on 12 vessels from one coast to the next, always enjoying his next adventure. At retirement he spent another 25 years plus sailing the Gulf Islands with our mom, suffering from two footitis as he called it, always keeping an eye on a bigger sailboat. He admired the people he worked with as much as they did him. Everyone that met Dad instantly liked him, he was a great conversationalist and an even better listener. He was predeceased by his wife, Joyce, who passed away in July 2018. He also endured the pain of losing sons, Allan who passed away in July, 1979, and his youngest son, Robert who passed away in November, 2020. Each loss took a piece of his heart but still his love for life rarely faltered. We, his four remaining children, their families and his friends will always remember him and miss his constant love of life and people. Happy hour continues in heaven.

Ken served from 1955 to 1959 and 1961 to 1984
