HMCS WOLF Z16

 


 

Launched: 1915

Commissioned: 02 Oct 1940

Paid off: 16 May 1945

Fate: Wrecked 11 Oct 1947

 

Aged 25 years at the time of her commissioning on 02 Oct 1940, WOLF spent the entire war as a member of Esquimalt Force, at first on training and patrol duty and then, from Sep 1943, as an examination vessel.  Paid off on 16 May 1945, she was sold in 1946 to become the merchant vessel Gulf Stream.  She was wrecked off Power River, B.C., on October 11, 1947.

(WD18) HMCS WOLF making a brief call at Sechelt, BC enroute from Vancouver to Halfmoon Bay. Photo was taken at approximately 1630 on Thursday, May 29, 1941. Wolf did not stay very long. She tied up alongside at 1644 and departed 1738.

(WD19) Saw mill at Powell River, BC seen from the bridge of HMCS WOLF.  WOLF docked at Powell River at 1005 on June 1, 1941 and departed at 0802 June 2, 1942. Her previous port of call was Stillwater (apparently there was a logging camp there) and was then bound for Redonda Bay

(WD20-WD21) North side of Tourner Island near Port McNeill. The splash comes from logs descending a flume on the left of the photo.  HMCS WOLF made a port of call to PortMcNeill on 20 Jun 1941.
