BLAGDON, Lloyd - age 81 of Halifax, Nova Scotia passed away September 15, 2026, at the Halifax Infirmary with his loving family by his side.
Born in Harbour Breton, Fortune Bay Newfoundland. He was the son of Bertram and Leah Blagdon.
After leaving his home at the age of 16 to join the Royal Canadian Navy, he quickly rose to the rank of Chief Petty Officer First Class. When he was promoted to this rank, he was the youngest CPO1 in Canada at the time. He spent most of his 33 years as a submariner and enjoyed playing rugby during his time in the Navy. After his retirement he enjoyed taking trips on his boat "The Morning Glory", diving, hunting and fishing whenever he could. He was known among his friends at Armdale Yacht Club to travel far and wide, winning the "Chrysler Marine Trophy", and always lending a helping hand. He was a lifelong Mason and particularly proud of being Masonic Grand Master in 1999-2000. He was an avid Shriner and Distinguished Toast Master. He was very involved in the AA program, province wide, maintaining his sobriety for 35 years. He greatly enjoyed spending time with his step grandchildren Robyn and Danielle who had a loving impact that brought much laughter and comfort to him.
Survived by his partner of 17 years Anna Burke, daughter Dorothy Ada Godwin and her husband Charlton Godwin of North Carolina, son Lloyd Henry Blagdon and his wife Brenda Lee Blagdon of Halifax, stepdaughter Leanna Marryatt, grandchildren Aidan Blagdon, Hailey Blagdon, Morgan Godwin, Patrick Godwin, step-grandchildren Katelyn, Kelsey, Robyn, and Danielle and step-great grandchildren Brianna, Noah, Zoey, and Ellie. Lloyd is also survived by his sister Marie Warren, brother Tom Blagdon, and several nieces and nephews.
Predeceased by his parents Bertram and Leah, sister Jane, son Patrick, and his former wives Ada and Susan.
Visitation will be held on Friday September 25, 2-4 and 6-8 at JA Snow Funeral Home. Funeral Service will be held Saturday September 26, at 2pm.
