In memory of those who have Crossed the Bar
D'ORSAY, Edward H. - PO1, RCN Ret’d, age 90, passed away peacefully on April 29, 2025 surrounded by his loving family.
Born in Moncton, NB, on January 5th, 1935, he was a son of the late John and Irene (nee Henderson) D’Orsay.
Ed joined the Navy in 1952 and trained at CFB Cornwallis. He proudly served as a Weapons Surface Technician on HMC Ships Magnificent, Bonaventure (twice), Chaleur, Kootenay, Assiniboine, Nipigon, Athabaskan, Annapolis, Margaree and his last ship, Fraser. He retired from the Navy in 1983 and worked for Versatile Vickers followed by Litton Systems until final retirement in 1995. Ed was active in the Naval Weapons Association, Royal Canadian Naval Association Peregrine Branch and the Royal Canadian Legion throughout his life.
He leaves behind his buddy and wife, Lorna, daughter Cindy (Alastair), son John (Cathy) and step-son, Vernon MacPhee (Michelle). He is also survived by grandchildren, Thomas Scott (Bekki), Kristopher Scott (Katelynn) and Justin D’Orsay as well as great-grandchildren, William, Savannah and Mckenzie Scott, and step-grandson, Samuel MacPhee. He was predeceased by his parents, brothers John (Jack) and William (Bill) D’Orsay.
Cremation has taken place. A Celebration of Life will be held on Thursday, May 8th from 11 am to 1 pm at the Atlantic Funeral Homes, 6552 Bayers Road. Following the celebration, there will be “Up Spirits” held at the Royal Canadian Naval Association Peregrine Branch, 3660 Commission St, Halifax, starting at 2 pm. Private family interment at Oakridge Memorial Gardens.
